A Journey of All and None
Museum of Contemporary Art and Urban Planning, Shen Zhen
2023

"A Journey of All and None" takes you on a journey through Jacky Tsai's 20-year artistic exploration, as he creates his own unique visual languages. "All" represents the ever-present vibrancy and complexity, while "None" symbolizes the blank canvas that allows the work to breathe and evolve in its own form when encountered and interacted with by the viewer. We encounter surreal and dreamlike moments in Tsai's work, but at the core of these illusions reflects and reveal the characteristics of our reality. When art challenges the world we live in, it's not an escape; it's art reaffirming the primacy of reality.

The exhibition includes over forty artworks that represent the artist's interpretations of life, philosophy, Buddhism, and nature. When standing before his work, both the artist and the viewer observe life and time, traversing scenes from our world to the beyond. Over the past twenty years, the artist has been exploring the clash between Eastern and Western visual languages and the re-adaptation of Chinese traditional crafts in a modern context. His work is filled with new interpretations of the past and the infinite possibilities of the future. For the first time, his digital interactive works are being exhibited, inviting the audience to participate in the creation of future art.
